Catherine and the world on fire

Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. – Catherine of Siena
But what if the world were already on fire?

Set the world on fire,
blaze like oil across the waters
such that none may break the surface;
oxygen-consuming, irradiating light
scorching creation, cauterize the wound
of life; still, the depths
mirror the mountaintops,
the thinness of the atmosphere,
reversing the lightness of the air,
waters pregnant with the heaviness of
God’s word ready to erupt.
