One or the other

One says,
Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb;
another,
Thou shalt not covet the livestock.

One says,
Give as good as you get;
another,
Do not repay evil for evil,
but overcome evil with good
.

One says,
I’d rather be sent down by twelve
than carried out by six
;
another,
It is better to suffer for doing good
than to suffer for doing evil. For Christ
also


This Sunday’s readings include verses from 1 Peter 3: “It is better to suffer for doing good … than to suffer for doing evil. For Christ also suffered … the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” (1 Peter 3:17-18)
