Clouded out

Morning storm awakening shelved my plans
to swim; I traded in my impression of
an independent woman riding the waves
for one of a devoted wife and mother, cleaning house.

Clouded out, that other woman,
drowned out by thunder,
white-washed by lightning,
saving face.
